IK tests (impact protection Class)

Normative document IEC 62262 refers to the classification of the degrees of protection provided by enclosures against external mechanical impacts when the rated voltage of the protected equipment is not greater than 72,5 kV. This standard is only applicable to enclosures of equipment where the specific standard establishes degrees of protection of the enclosure against mechanical impacts (expressed in this standard as "impacts"). The Impact hammer tests carried out according to test standard IEC 60068-2-75.

With our impact hammer tests and strike elements we are now able to provide conformity with the following IK classifications:

Test 1 Impact test - class IK01
Normative document IEC 62262:2002 - class IK01
Test standard IEC 60068-2-75:2014 - paragraph 6 – method Ehb (Spring hammer)
Joule 0,14 (±10%)
Spring compression 10 mm (±1%) (Spring constant 2,75 x 10³ N/m)
Number of impacts 5 on each exposed face, unless otherwise specified in the relevant product standard. Maximum 3 impacts applied in the surroundings of the same point.
Method of mounting Mounted by its normal means on rigid plane support or be placed against a rigid plane support.
Functional Yes / No (depending on relevant product specification)
Test result The specimen shall be submitted to the visual, dimensional and functional checks prescribed by the relevant specification. The relevant specification shall prescribe the criteria upon which the acceptance or rejection of the specimen is to be based.

Test 02 Impact test - class IK02
Normative document IEC 62262:2002 - class IK02
Test standard IEC 60068-2-75:2014 - paragraph 6 – method Ehb (Spring hammer)
Joule 0,2 (±10%)
Spring compression 13 mm (±1%) (Spring constant 2,75 x 10³ N/m)
Number of impacts 5 on each exposed face, unless otherwise specified in the relevant product standard. Maximum 3 impacts applied in the surroundings of the same point.
Method of mounting Mounted by its normal means on rigid plane support or be placed against a rigid plane support.
Functional Yes / No (depending on relevant product specification)
Test result The specimen shall be submitted to the visual, dimensional and functional checks prescribed by the relevant specification. The relevant specification shall prescribe the criteria upon which the acceptance or rejection of the specimen is to be based.
